my heart
“My heart showeth me the wickedness of the ungodly.”
How unfortunate.
I was at work for four hours this morning, 11 to 3. I actually worked for about 20 minutes. The rest of the time I finished my book, a crossword, and two other word puzzles. I made $7.50 in tips. We are dead today.
When I woke up this morning, the first thought that stumbled through my mind was the fact that tomorrow is my last day. It was nice to know that. Cherish’s last day was yesterday. She stopped in today to say goodbye to everybody. I have much thanks for her; she was always so nice to me and appreciative of my hard work. I might be seeing her in Seattle because she will be living only about 10 minutes north of SPU. We might go to some raves together or something. Anyway, so I guess my point is that it is kinda weird leaving the Lodge. As much as I hate being here, I still feel slightly weird leaving. I have spent three months here, working with the same people, doing the same thing. I guess I have gotten used to it, misery and all. I suppose these feelings come with any large life change. Even though I’m going back to where I want to be and where I call home, it is still something I will have to get used to. Well, I have 7 days to get to used to it. I’ll be in Seattle within a week.
Continuing on. . .
This beastly summer is finally drawing to a close. I am thankful. My contract has been shortened, my last day of work at the McKinley Princess Lodge is this Sunday the 10th. In merely 3 days, I will be away and finished with that horrible place. Unfortunately, I am also realizing that I may have to work there again next year. I will know better this time. I will have a much shorter contract and will have at least one friend (girlfriend?) with me. I will not do it again alone for so long.
I am still trying to decide when to fly back to Seattle. I think I will want to leave this state soon after I am done with work. Anchorage gets boring very quickly. I might just wait to go down with my brother on the night of the 15th. I guess we’ll see, but I’m very anxious to move into my new room with Fluger and START PLAYING SOME UT!
Last night, Rob, Micah, and I were driving around in Eagle River, as we habitually do. We first stopped by Blockbuster to find yet another movie. The one movie we wanted was out, so we had to settle on another movie. Micah and Rob both became infatuated with Nichole while there. Micah thinks she has really cute ears. . .whatever. I’d have to agree with them though, she is pretty cute. I would have gone in there to ask if she wanted to join us, but both Micah and Rob had enough indecision about it that the initiative died. So, we sashayed on over to Alaska Marketplace across the street where we poked around so more. After stopping by Taco Bell and getting three bean burritoes and some “hemorroid cream, the mild kind” we continued on up to Rob’s house to watch Conan O’Brien. On the way up though we were listening to Zao’s “Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest” album. We all know the first three songs pretty much by heart, so we were belting it out as loud as we could. We had to go past Rob’s house so that we could listen to all the songs. By the time we were done, all of our throats were hoarse and voices raspy. After Conan finished, we went up to my hot tub and discussed grown-up things. . .and girls (duh). It was a good night.
Quote for the day: Stuttering. . .it’s funny.
