stupidity around the world

Filed under: rant — steve @ 6:09 pm

This is a crazy world. Let’s just get this over with.

We got 7-year-olds addicted to porn. Thanks, gramps…

We got Democrats in Texas who don’t want to do their job. Keep it up. It makes the other party look good.

We got crazed animal-rights extremists in Britain. If they’re going to act like brutes, maybe they should be subject to some experiments….experiments in justice that is.

We got a kid who got world-wide fame and now is suing the people who made him famous. The ungrateful twerp. I would LOVE to be famous like how he is. If you haven’t seen the original video it’s here (Windows Media, 2.98 MB). I guess it’s nice to know that the US isn’t the only country with a messed up tort system.

nobody home

Filed under: thoughts — steve @ 9:44 pm

I’ve come to the conclusion that I need some type of suffering or depression or strife in my life to be a catalyst for my creative spirit. It’s sad but true. I can’t write anymore. I can’t develop an original concept past a few lines or a few thoughts. I get the first bit down, and then I just get stuck on that. It’s as if I am hoping that by dwelling on a few words will elicit some type of creative revelation. It’s my useless liturgy in hopes that I will be blessed. I want to do so much, create so much. But nothing is there. It’s like a void in my soul.

I lost something a while ago, and I still haven’t gotten back.

reason #948 why i love my girlfriend

Filed under: general — steve @ 5:02 pm

The other day I saw this idiot on a Segway while Jess and I were driving around. I asked her to pull over so I could punch the dude. She didn’t pull over, and that’s another reason why I love her.

brand new & the sickness

Filed under: general — steve @ 11:46 pm

A captain goes down with his ship. I find this idea to be captivating.

I bought the Brand New album “Deja Entendu” last night. I had downloaded a couple of their mp3s from their mp3.com website, and thought they rocked so much that I walked 2 blocks to Tower Records to buy the album. I must admit the first time i listened through it I wasn’t that impressed. However, the second time through, I realized there were several really good songs. Both of the songs at that mp3.com site are excellent, but unfortunately the rest of the album isn’t the same style. With the exception of one song, the rest of the album is slower. The best song on the album is “Play Crack the Sky.” I’ve listened to it over and over.

I felt like I had more to write, but nothing is coming out.

Top 10 things I’m sick of:
1. Ashton Kutcher
2. Commercial jingles
3. Working for a living
4. Not knowing where my zippo lighter went
5. The heat
6. No instant gratification
7. Clothes on the floor
8. Going to bed at midnight
9. Reser’s Hot Red Beef frozen burritos
10. Voicemails

Those people who make up commercial jingles need to be shot, drawn, quartered, hung, skinned alive, and incinerated.

colleges

Filed under: links — steve @ 10:49 pm

Why does this remind me of SPU so much? Everything from the diversity emphasis, to real estate development, to increased tuition, to the private chef seems to be patently SPU. I guess it isn’t the only private university with some major problems.

It’s scary to think that by the time my kids hit their college years it may be too expensive for me to afford.

reason #404 why i love my girlfriend

Filed under: general — steve @ 10:16 pm

She gets out of bed at 2 in the morning to pick up my lame, out-of-gas ass, even though she has to work the next morning, and still loves me.

manly man stuff

Filed under: general — steve @ 10:08 pm

I have finally finished converting all my old journal entries into blog entries. I’m glad I finished it. It was getting very annoying by the end, but it had to be done.

Idaho was a lot of fun. Looking back on it now, it almost seems like it was a hedonistic festival of machismo. While there I smoked cigars, drank beer, drank wine, drank liquor, shot pistols, shot rifles, jumped off of cliffs, blew up fireworks, dodged fireworks, ate steak, watched manly movies, stayed up late, and drove around in big trucks. Like I said, Idaho was fun.

Last weekend I went to Portland to film a wedding. I also got to go to the bachelor party, which involved paintballing. I hadn’t been paintballing in a long time. It was pretty fun. I got really dirty, sweaty, and painty. One time this dude popped around the corner, but I knew he was coming because he was noisy. So, I shot him first, but he also shot at me. So, I fired back. And then he fired back again. Then we exchanged several more rounds at a range of about 10 feet. I had bumps on my head after that. That night I finished Halo in one night (second time I’ve done it). I started at around 10 p.m. and finished around 8:30 a.m. The wedding itself was very simple and short. It seems like every wedding is so short. I always expect them to go longer. If I were to have a wedding it will be simple and short. The honeymoon will be simple and VERY LONG.

On the way home from Portland I ran out of gas. Had I been able to go about 50 more feet I would have been able to coast down to a gas station and suffered only a very minor inconvenience. However, it wasn’t to be. First, I had to find an open gas station (not easy at 1 a.m.) to buy a gas can. I couldn’t find one, so I started looking for an empty 2 liter bottle to put gas in. I finally found one, and between that and my 7-11 Big Gulp cup, I thought I’d be able to transport enough gas to make my truck move another fifty feet off the exit ramp. Apparently, using these type of containers for fuel transport is illegal. That’s what the gas attendant, who mysteriously popped out of nowhere, told me. He sold me a gas can for half price from his “closed” 76 station. So, I marched back to my truck after filling my new gas can (bringing my total collection of gas cans to three) and poured it in. Then I tried to start my truck, but the stupid battery had drained. I said a few things to my truck and marched back to the 76 station. The gas attendant couldn’t help me with a jump because he wasn’t allowed to leave his “closed” station. So, I had to call up my ever-loving girlfriend, which leads me to my next entry. . .

cliff jumper

Filed under: movies — steve @ 6:42 pm

I put up a new movie showing me jumping from a cliff. Biggest cliff jump I’ve done to date.

I also added some a couple more pictures of my trip to Idaho. I’ll write about that in a bit, but right now, I’m going to go pick up some Chinese food.

let freedom ring…in our heads

fireworks!Just think, there are millions of people who woke up this morning with a patriotic hangover.

Jess and I spent the Fourth walking around downtown and waiting for the big fireworks show to start. It was good to spend the day with her. The fireworks show was pretty good. It went for 30 minutes, but I think it lacked a serious acoustic punch. It was far too quiet. It only had a few of those fireworks that have the huge explosion that’s really loud. I like those ones a lot. I heard that the show on the other side of Queen Anne Hill had a lot of those types of fireworks. I’m going to get a little video of the climax of the show up, but that will probably have to wait until after I get back.

America is over-weight, and I’ve seen proof.

I’ve added some more old entries to the blog. I’m about half way done now with that. I’m going to be gone for a week starting tonight. The video of my new apartment is coming. I was going to do it yesterday, but I ended up cleaning up my apartment for a couple of hours instead.

site update

Filed under: site updates — steve @ 10:51 pm

I’ve begun the tedious process of converting my old journal entries into blog entries. It will take a while to do them all. You can acccess them all via the archive links on the right side.

I think I might also get some more pictures up tomorrow, but they aren’t anything extra special.
